Cookie Policy
Complete details on how Bilanssi Oy utilizes cookies and browser local storage, what data is processed, and how you manage your preferences.
Compliant with the ePrivacy Directive and GDPR (Regulation (EU) 2016/679)
1. What Are Cookies & Local Storage?
Cookies are small text files placed on your device when you visit a website. Browser local storage (localStorage) is a modern web mechanism that allows websites to store small amounts of persistent text data securely inside your browser.
Bilanssi Oy adheres strictly to a policy of transparency and consent. No optional cookie or tracking technology is ever deployed before you give affirmative consent.
2. Cookies & Storage Technologies Used on Bilanssi.com
The table below lists every cookie and storage item that can be created when you interact with this website:
| Name / Key | Category | Lifespan | Provider | Purpose |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| bilanssi_cookie_consent_v1 | 12 months (localStorage) | Bilanssi Oy | Stores your cookie consent preferences (whether you accepted or rejected optional advertising measurement) so you are not prompted repeatedly. | |
| _uetsid | Advertising & Measurement | 1 day (24 hours) | Microsoft Advertising | Session identifier utilized by Microsoft Universal Event Tracking (UET) to record page visits within a single browser session. Set ONLY upon consent. |
| _uetvid | Advertising & Measurement | 13 months | Microsoft Advertising | Unique visitor identifier utilized by Microsoft Universal Event Tracking (UET) to recognize returning visitors across multiple sessions. Set ONLY upon consent. |
| MUID | Advertising & Measurement | About 1 year (390 days) | Microsoft Corporation | Widely used by Microsoft domains as a unique user identifier for conversion tracking, search advertising reporting, and anti-fraud verification. Can be set on Microsoft's own domains, so this site cannot delete it; it can be removed in your browser settings. Set ONLY upon consent. |
3. Microsoft Advertising (UET) Integration & Safeguards
We use Microsoft Advertising Universal Event Tracking (UET) to evaluate the performance of our commercial advertisements on the Bing search engine.
Default State (Prior to Consent): When you first load our website, the Microsoft consent signal is programmatically initialized with ad storage strictly denied:
window.uetq.push('consent', 'default', {'ad_storage': 'denied'});
The Microsoft UET external script (bat.js) is not downloaded and cookies are never written until and unless you explicitly click "Accept all" or toggle "Advertising & Measurement – Microsoft UET" to ON in the Preferences dialog.
If you reject optional cookies or later withdraw consent, consent is set to 'denied', we stop the tag from setting or reading Microsoft cookies and delete the first-party _uetsid and _uetvid cookies; cookies set on Microsoft's own domains can be removed in your browser settings.
4. Legal Basis & International Data Transfers
The legal basis for setting strictly necessary cookies is Article 6(1)(f) GDPR (our legitimate interest in operating a secure, functional web application) and Section 205 of the Finnish Act on Electronic Communications Services (516/2014).
The legal basis for storing Microsoft Advertising UET cookies is explicit consent under Article 6(1)(a) GDPR.
Data processed by Microsoft may involve servers operated by Microsoft Corporation in the United States. Such transfers take place pursuant to the EU-US Data Privacy Framework (DPF) and approved Standard Contractual Clauses (SCCs). For full details, see our Privacy Policy.
5. How to Change or Withdraw Your Cookie Choices
You retain absolute control over your cookie preferences at all times. You can reopen the preferences modal and adjust your choice at any moment by clicking the button below or using the "Cookie settings" link present in the footer of every page.
Additionally, you can delete or block cookies directly through your web browser's security settings (e.g., in Chrome, Safari, Firefox, or Edge). Note that clearing your browser storage will remove your saved consent record and cause the consent banner to appear upon your next visit.
